Wayne State University announced on Apr. 13 that five of its student-athletes have been named nominees for the Allstate National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Good Works Team for spring sports.
This recognition highlights the achievements and community involvement of Benjamin Hill, Emmanuela Johnson, Shawn Sehra, Martyna Szpakowska, and Gabe Zeldes. These five were the only nominees from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for the 2025-26 Allstate NACDA Good Works Team in spring sports.
The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics reported that there are 137 student-athlete nominees this year representing 13 collegiate sports, including baseball, beach volleyball, golf, lacrosse, softball, tennis and rowing. The final team will include ten female and ten male student-athletes and is expected to be announced in late April. One individual will also be selected as captain.
The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team was created in 2024 to honor college athletes who demonstrate leadership in community service as well as achievement in academics and athletics. According to past honorees cited by NACDA, these include Iowa State basketball player Audi Crooks who founded a youth foundation; Loyola Chicago goalkeeper Aidan Crawford who established Special Olympics Loyola University Chicago; Penn State golfer Jami Morris who started a cancer research fundraiser; and Auburn gymnast Sophia Groth who advocated for student parents through nonprofit work.
Wayne State Warriors Men’s Golf is part of NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics according to the official website. The team holds membership in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference according to the official website and operates from Detroit, Michigan according to the official website.
NACDA serves more than 23,000 college athletics administrators at over 2,300 institutions across North America. It manages multiple professional associations and foundations while hosting several major events each year.
