City of Dearborn recently issued the following announcement.

Convertibles needed for Dearborn Memorial Day Parade on May 25 to carry honored veterans

A unique opportunity is available for people who own a convertible to honor special veterans being recognized in the 2020 Memorial Day Parade in Dearborn on Monday, May 25. It is early in the year to be thinking about the parade, but we want to make sure we are giving everyone a chance to participate.

More local veteran leaders and special WWII vets are being honored this year, and the City has slots still available for convertible owners to drive one of these VIP veterans in the exciting parade. The commitment would be from 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 25 to about 11 a.m. The 1.5-mile parade starts at 10 a.m.

If you have a patriotic heart and a convertible, please contact the Dearborn Department of Public Information at 313-943-2285 or jgarrett@ci.dearborn.mi.us by Friday, Feb 14.

Dearborn has the oldest continuous Memorial Day parade in Michigan and one of the largest in the country on the holiday.

Owners of convertibles are encouraged to contact the city at 313-943-2285 if they are interested in driving honored veterans in the May 25 event. Dearborn has one of the largest Memorial Day Parades in the country.
