Charter County of Wayne Michigan issued the following announcement on May 15.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Robert Sinclair Tesh, 32 (DOB: 06/02/1987), of Detroit, with False Report Of Threat Of Terrorism*, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

On April 14, 2020, it is alleged that Defendant communicated through a social media messenger with an acquaintance making credible threats to kill Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel. Later that day, the Detroit Police Department arrested Defendant Tesh at his home located in the 2100 block of Jefferson in Detroit.

Prosecutor Worthy said, "The alleged facts in this case lay out a very disturbing scenario. We understand that these times can be stressful and upsetting for many people. But we will not and cannot tolerate threats like these against any public official who are carrying out their duties as efficiently as they can. You can disagree with their positions or their methodology, but you absolutely cannot act as this defendant allegedly acted or you will be charged criminally."

Defendant Tesh was arraigned on April 22, 2020 before Magistrate Jeffrey Kleparek. He received a $50,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. On April 29, 2020 he posted bond and remains on a GPS tether. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for June 3, 2020, before Judge Kenyetta Stanford-Jones. There is no Preliminary Examination scheduled at this time.

Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Detroit Police Department.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
