CITY OF DEARBORN: Residents encouraged to register to vote early to avoid crowds on Aug. 4 election

Vote6(1000)

City of Dearborn recently issued the following announcement.

Residents encouraged to register to vote early to avoid crowds on Aug. 4 election

With the Tuesday, Aug. 4 primary election quickly approaching, the City of Dearborn would like to encourage residents to register to vote early, as well as to vote absentee. The deadline to register by mail or online is Monday, July 20. This will help to avoid crowds and potentially long wait times on Election Day.

Unregistered, eligible voters are encouraged to register to vote early, and may do so either by mail or online by July 20. After July 20, eligible residents must register in-person at the City Clerk’s office with a valid picture ID and proof of residency.

Residents are also strongly encouraged to vote absentee. To do so, applications must be signed and sent to the City Clerk before ballots are sent.

“Voters can return their ballots through the mail, in-person at the City Clerk’s office, or in the drop-box located across from the main entrance of the Dearborn Administrative Center.” City Clerk George Darany said.

If returning a ballot by U.S. mail, keep in mind the USPS experiences increased workloads during election season, which can delay delivery. Return your ballot as soon as possible to avoid missing the Aug. 4 deadline.

Precautions are in place in an effort to keep those voting in-person safe. Voters will be asked to wear a mask and maintain social distance, and hand sanitizer will be available at every polling location. Signs will be posted to remind voters of these precautions.

For more information, please contact the Dearborn City Clerk’s Office at 313-943-2010.
