Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has been using daily COVID-19 press briefings as a "bully pulpit" to force her partisan plan on Republican lawmakers and praise Democrats, while continuing to implement executive orders.

Not only does Whitmer use her press conferences for deriding Republicans, but she is using her power as governor to blame her shortcomings on others.

“It has become clear that Gov. Whitmer has her sights set on the VP nomination and is willing to do or say whatever it takes to make it happen. For months, she sat back and blamed federal and state Republican leaders for her own administration’s shortcomings, and has enacted hundreds of executive orders to capture the attention of the Biden Campaign," Chairperson Laura Cox said, according to the Michigan Republican Party.

"Yet just like the 2019 budget, ‘fixing the damn roads’, auto insurance reform or the state’s COVID-19 response, Whitmer will likely fail at this too -- and at the cost of so many Michiganders. For once, I wish the governor would realize the real-life consequences her thirst for political advancement has for the people of our state," Cox continued.

Presidential hopeful Joe Biden has recently chosen his running mate as California Sen. Kamala Harris.

While Whitmer herself is calling for bipartisanship, she has yet to show she actually wants to work with Republican lawmakers.

“I implore everyone in Washington D.C. to stop the partisanship and get something done,” Whitmer said, according to the Michigan Republican Party

But she continues to use her platform to criticize Republicans both in Michigan and in Washington, instead of working with them. Whitmer is also pushing the blame for state issues onto the Republicans.

“[Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer’s hypocrisy on bipartisanship is glaring. From protests to press conferences, she has proved to be the most partisan governor in recent history," Cox said told the Michigan Republican Party. “Gov. Whitmer should live up to her own mantra of ‘building bridges,’ not dispatching more discord.”
