City of Dearborn recently issued the following announcement.

The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (The Center) will be welcoming back passholders for some amenities beginning Monday, Jan. 11. COVID-19 safety protocols are in place, and health and safety conditions may alter this schedule.

The amenities being re-opened are the fitness center, swimming pool, track, and gymnasium. These amenities will be open at limited capacity and for individual exercise only. Only lap swimmers will be allowed in the pool area. Basketball and other group sports will not be permitted in the gym at this time.

The portions of the facility that will remain closed are the theater, art gallery, rock wall, baby-sitting room, hot tub, leisure swimming pool, and senior lounge.

Every individual entering The Center is required to wear a face mask. Masks must be worn at all times, except if swimming laps in the pool.

In addition, capacity is limited to 25 percent.

As of Dec. 23, a date for resuming group exercise classes has not yet been set, but The Center is currently offering virtual classes. These can be located at dearbornfordcenter.com.

Beginning Jan. 11, the Center’s hours will be 5:30 a.m. – 7p.m. on Monday – Friday and 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturdays. The facility will be closed on Sundays.

Passholders will receive a letter detailing options regarding their membership fees, but fees will be waived for the month of January.

The safe re-opening of further amenities and the return to normal hours, including Sundays, is hoped to occur in March 2021. Any further re-openings would be based on safety protocols in place at the time. Everything is subject to change based on health conditions.
