Garden City Police Department issued the following announcement on July 21.

On 07/21/2021 at 0322 hours, the Garden City Police Department responded to a domestic violence incident at a home on the 6300 block of Gilman St. in Garden City. 

When officers arrived, they met with the victim outside of the home. She reported being the victim of a domestic violence assault involving a handgun, and that she had sustained injuries. At that time, the male suspect was believed to be inside the home and still armed. The Garden City Police Department is a member of the Western Wayne County Special Operation Team. 

The team was activated and responded to the location. The male suspect was located near the home and taken into custody, a short time later. The suspect is currently being held at the Garden City Police Department. Due to the ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide any further information at this time. The Garden City Police Department would like to thank all officers and agencies involved, including the Western Wayne County Special Operations Team officers, for their dedication and hard work to resolve this matter quickly and professionally.
