Five Wayne State University women's student-athletes have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, as announced by the organization earlier this afternoon. WSU sports in the "At-Large" category include fencing and golf.

Nomination criteria require that student-athletes must be at least sophomores academically and athletically, and undergraduate student-athletes must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Receiving Academic All-District accolades were junior foilist Ludovica Mancini (Rome, Lazio, Italy / Liceo Linguistico Niccolò Machiavelli) and senior epeeist Vika Shevchenko (Troy, Mich.) from the fencing team (Division 1), along with seniors Logan Potts (Norton Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores) and Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain / Colegio Base), and sophomore Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) from the women's golf squad (Division 2).

Mancini was selected to the All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention Team and was a First Team All-CCFC selection in the foil after being on the Second Team last season. She finished the 2023-24 season with a 76-41 overall record, which included a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional and an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Championships after receiving an At-Large bid. The Global Studies major maintains a 3.94 cumulative GPA. Mancini was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team earlier this month in her first year eligible.

Shevchenko compiled a 48-39 record in epee after winning a season-high of 14 bouts twice—at the Notre Dame DeCicco Duals and the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference Championships. She won three of her six bouts at the NCAA Midwest Regional. Shevchenko graduated last month with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science along with a 3.51 cumulative GPA. She was twice on the GLIAC All-Academic Team before ascending to the Excellence Team this season.

Potts was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for the third year in a row earlier this month. She was also awarded WSU Athletics Deans' Award from the College of Education for having the highest cumulative GPA of any student-athlete in that college. Potts played in nine tournaments and 22 rounds with an average score of 84.0 per round, placing among top-25 finishes in two tournaments including tied-for-22nd at Walsh Cavalier Classic and tied-for-25th at Ferris State Lady Bulldog Fall Invite. Potts graduated last month with a degree in Special Education while maintaining a 3.97 cumulative GPA.

Vestman, who has been selected three times for GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition, graduated last month with a degree in Economics while earning a cumulative GPA of 3.87. On course performance includes receiving First Team All-GLIAC recognition after leading her squad with an average score of 76.42 over all team rounds she played this past season; she had four top-10 finishes including being individual medalist at Davenport Panther Invite among other notable placements like fourth place both Lady Bulldog Fall Invite & Cavalier Classic as well as eighth place tie during GLIAC Championships concluding collegiate career participating consecutively four years within NCAA East Regional competitions.
