Wayne State University head football coach Tyrone Wheatley, in his second season with the Warriors, has announced the 2024 team captains for the upcoming season.
The 2024 WSU captains will include graduate students Kaleb Coleman (Detroit, Mich. / Birmingham Groves [Morgan State]) and Griffin Milovanski (Saugatuck, Mich. / Saugatuck), redshirt senior Charles Wesley (Clinton Township, Mich. / Chippewa Valley), and junior Elijah Fowlkes (Cleveland, Ohio / Cleveland Heights).
Coleman and Fowlkes will be on the defensive side of the ball. Milovanski will handle kickoffs, field goals, and PATs, while Wesley is an offensive lineman. Milovanski is the only returning captain from 2023.
Coleman competed in 30 games for Morgan State over the past three seasons totaling 88 tackles (68 solo, 20 assisted).
Milovanski, who is the lone three-year letterwinner on the Warrior squad, has appeared in 30 games in the past three seasons and has tallied 160 career points (31 field goals and 67 PATs) to rank 15th in school history in scoring but fourth among kickers.
Wesley has played in all 21 games over the last two seasons, starting 15 times (seven at left guard, six at right tackle, and two at right guard).
Fowlkes has played in 13 games in his two seasons with the Green and Gold, starting 10 times in the secondary.
Wayne State opens its 2024 campaign at Tiffin on Thursday, September 5th.
