Wayne State men’s cross country secures third place at Northwood Invite

Wayne State University's men's cross country team competed at the Northwood Invite, held at the Fisher Family Trails in Midland, Michigan. The team secured a third-place finish.

Tyler Buchanan from Fenton, Michigan, and Carson Nicoletti from Shelby Township, Michigan led the Warriors. Buchanan finished 15th with a time of 19:12.60, followed by Nicoletti at 19:14.60. Sean Pettis, a newcomer from Fremont, Michigan, placed 19th with a time of 19:20.60.

The Green and Gold team accumulated 95 points overall. They trailed behind Northwood and Davenport.

Other notable finishes include:

- Ty Nagy (Commerce Township, Mich.) in 23rd place with a time of 19:27.30

- Tyler Brothers (Shelby Township, Mich.) in 26th place with a time of 19:32.80

- Sam Martini (Casnovia, Mich.) in 29th place with a time of 19:36.60

- Gabe Trevino (Saginaw, Mich.) in 31st place with a time of 19:38.70

Coach Lofdahl commented on the performance stating, "Our guys stuck to their race plan pretty well today. The weather was nice and other teams took it out fast, but we stayed with the workout plan and ran a nice last three-quarters of a mile." He also noted strong performances from new team members Sean Pettis, Sam Martini, and Gabe Trevino.

Next on their schedule is the annual Warrior Challenge hosted by Wayne State on September 15 in New Boston, Michigan at Will Metropark. The men's race will commence at 5:45 pm.
