Wayne State women's golf team completes first two rounds at UMSL's Midwest Ladies Collegiate

The Wayne State University women's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Midwest Ladies Collegiate, hosted by Missouri-St. Louis, on Monday at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana. The Warriors are currently tied for ninth place among 16 teams with a score of 639 (+63, 317-322). They aim to improve their standing during the final round on Tuesday.

Warrior individuals ranked as follows out of a total of 91 participants:

- T13: Ting-Yu Kuo (Taipei, Taiwan / Taipei Municipal Zhong-zheng Senior) - 151 (+7, 72-79)

- 21: Claudia Portillo (Madrid, Spain / IES Ortega y Gassett) - 154 (+10, 77-77)

- T66: Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich.) - 168 (+24, 84-84)

- T75: Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) - 173 (+29, 91-82)

- T75: Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich. / Livonia Franklin (Eastern Michigan)) - 173 (84-89)

Junior Sabel Imesch demonstrated notable progress by advancing nine spots from the first to the second round. Claudia Portillo also improved her position by three slots in her inaugural collegiate tournament. Competing at this level for the first time as well, Ting-Yu Kuo remains within the top fifteen despite dropping ten spots in the second round.

The competition includes a total of 91 student-athletes divided into 23 groups set to tee off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
