The Wayne State University men's tennis team is set to open the 2024 season at the Cancer vs. Everybody Rocket Invite. Toledo's annual invitational will begin on September 20 and run through September 22, with matches being held at the outdoor courts on Toledo's campus as well as the outdoor courts at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.

The Warriors are returning to action after a successful 2023-24 campaign that saw the squad advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Wayne State has reached the national quarterfinals for three straight years (2022-23-24).

This will be the second consecutive year that Wayne State will participate in the Cancer vs. Everybody Rocket Invite. In last year's event, only two current Warriors participated: Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany) and Benjamin Hill (Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). Both saw success in singles and doubles. Drenth compiled a 3-0 record in singles and a 3-1 mark in doubles. Hill went 3-1 in singles and 2-2 in doubles.

The Green and Gold will face off against some familiar competition as two 2023-24 opponents will compete in this year's event. Wayne State traveled to both Case Western and Toledo last season. The Warriors defeated Toledo 4-3 but fell short in an exhibition match against Case Western as the Spartans claimed a 4-3 victory.
