The Wayne State Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 25 at The Eastern. Banquet tickets will be available soon.

One of the six inductees this year is Ellyson Maleski, a former four-year swimming letterwinner from 2013 to 2016. Maleski was a 16-time All-American, including earning 14 First Team All-American certificates.

She made history as the first WSU student-athlete to become a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American after receiving Second Team accolades for the third consecutive year in 2016.

During her time at the NCAA Championships, Maleski earned First Team recognition each year in the 200 free relay and secured a national title in 2014 by anchoring the relay that broke the NCAA D2 record.

Maleski was also a three-time First Team All-American in the 400 medley relay, the 400 free relay, and the 100 backstroke. In addition, she was part of the national runner-up team in the 200 medley relay in 2014.

Her contributions helped Wayne State achieve back-to-back national runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2014, as well as fifth place in 2015 and seventh place in 2016. Additionally, WSU won the GLIAC title all four years she competed.

At the GLIAC Championships, Maleski won seven titles: two each in the 200 free relay, the 400 medley relay, and the 200 medley relay plus an individual title in the 100 backstroke in 2015. She consistently placed in the top three for the 100 backstroke throughout her four years at GLIACs.

Academically distinguished as well, Maleski majored in Biomedical Engineering Honors and appeared on the Academic Honor Roll every semester. She was on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA of over 3.5) seven times and achieved two perfect semester GPAs of 4.0.

In recognition of her academic achievements, she received several awards including being named Dean's Award winner from College of Engineering for having highest cumulative GPA among student-athletes from that college in 2016. She also received GLIAC Commissioner's Award in 2015 for academic and athletic excellence.
