Wayne State men's cross country places 23rd at Live in Lou Classic

Wayne State University's men's cross country team participated in the Live in Lou Classic, finishing 23rd out of 28 teams. The competition included NCAA Division I, II, and III programs as well as NAIA teams.

Eight runners represented Wayne State at the event. Redshirt senior Tyler Buchanan from Fenton, Michigan led the team with a time of 25:12.70, securing 88th place. Freshman Sean Pettis from Fremont, Michigan followed with a time of 25:30.20 for 112th place, while sophomore Brady Heron from Northville, Michigan finished at 25:42.60 in 134th position.

Additional finishers for Wayne State included Gabe Trevino from Saginaw, Michigan who placed 150th with a time of 25:50.90; Ty Nagy from Commerce Township, Michigan who finished 155th at 25:53.40; Sam Martini from Casnovia, Michigan in 183rd place with a time of 26:15.50; Tyler Brothers from Shelby Township, Michigan placing 204th at 26:30.50; and Jared Platt from White Lake, Michigan who ended in the 220th spot with a time of 26:43.60.

Head Coach Grant Lofdahl commented on the team's performance saying, "Our men were a little bit shorthanded today, but they stuck with the race plan and competed really hard." He noted that despite being a young team their goal is to improve weekly and praised individual efforts including those by Buchanan, Pettis and Heron.

The Warriors are scheduled to compete next at the Lewis Crossover Invitational in Romeoville, Illinois on October 12.
