Wayne State University's volleyball team faced a challenging match against Ferris State University, currently ranked ninth nationally. The encounter took place at the Matthaei Center, where Ferris State emerged victorious in straight sets.
The Bulldogs demonstrated strong offensive skills with a hitting percentage of .372, accumulating 52 kills and committing only 10 errors over 113 attacks. Wayne State responded with a .273 hitting percentage, achieving 41 kills but also committing 11 errors across 110 attempts. The Warriors' most efficient performance was during the first set, where they recorded an impressive .350 hitting percentage with 18 kills and four errors on 40 attacks.
Notably, this match marked the first time since September 11, 2021, that Wayne State did not record a service ace. Kayla Dulgar achieved her third double-double of the season with 35 assists and 12 digs over three sets. Kayla Giroux excelled with a .524 hitting percentage, contributing 12 kills and just one error on 21 swings. Molly Miller matched Giroux's kill count with four errors on her total attacks for a .258 clip. Leigha Baldwin delivered an efficient performance as well.
The Warriors will now prepare to face Saginaw Valley State in their next GLIAC road game scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
