Wayne State tennis teams head to ITA Cup with six athletes competing

The Wayne State University tennis teams are preparing to compete in the ITA Cup, with six student athletes representing the university. The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 10, at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. This marks the eighth year that Berry College has hosted the tournament since 2017.

Cedric Drenth and George Day will represent Wayne State's men's team. They will compete together in doubles matches, while Drenth will also participate in singles. For the women's team, although no players are entered in singles matches, four athletes will compete in doubles. Malak Arafat and Martyna Szpakowska form one pair, while Anais Ruyssen and Dea Gorgidze make up another.

Both women's doubles pairs are set to start their matches at 2:30 PM on October 10.

The schedule for October 10 is as follows:

- Men's Singles: Cedric Drenth vs. Cas de Ruiter (Harding) at 9:00 AM

- Men's Doubles: Cedric Drenth and George Day vs. Adrian Solorzano and Cas de Ruiter (Harding) at 2:30 PM

- Women's Doubles:

- Malak Arafat and Martyna Szpakowska vs. Mariana Ramirez and Nikoline Gullacksen (Columbus State) at 2:30 PM

- Anais Ruyssen and Dea Gorgidze vs. Renske Ubachs and Daniela Tijaro (Washburn) at 2:30 PM
