Wayne State University's senior linebacker, Carl Ware, has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. This marks the first time in his career with the Warriors that he has received this recognition.
In a recent game against Ferris State, Ware recorded six tackles, including one for loss. He also forced a fumble, intercepted a pass, broke up another pass, and hurried the quarterback. Despite Wayne State's 27-14 loss to Ferris State, Ware's performance stood out.
Ware has shown consistency by forcing a fumble in three consecutive games and leads the GLIAC with four forced fumbles this season. He is second in total tackles with 45 and ranks fifth in tackles for loss at 7.5 within the league.
Ferris State's 27 points were their lowest since their season opener against Pittsburg State in 2024. It was only the fourth instance in their last 19 games where they scored below 28 points.
