The Wayne State University women's fencing team competed in the Northwestern Duals held in Evanston, Illinois. Over two days, the Warriors participated in eight team competitions. They secured victories against Fairleigh Dickinson with a score of 22-5 on February 3 and defeated Incarnate Word 17-8 on February 4.

The team faced defeats from Ohio State (22-5), Air Force (22-5), Boston College (17-10), and Stanford (19-8) on the first day, followed by losses to Temple (18-9) and Cornell (19-8) on the second day.

Head Coach Andy Tulleners commented on the team's performance: "This was a long two-day event for the team. It was also our toughest meet of the whole season. While we were short in our sabre squads, the teams as a whole really performed well. Our epee squads really carried us through many of the rounds. Our women's epeeists were really the trend setters on the team and consistently stepped up to every team we fenced. Our foil squads showed the greatest improvement from the start of the meet to the end of the weekend." He expressed satisfaction with how Assistant Coach Svitlana Shevchenko and he have seen progress within the team.

In epee competition, freshman Reka Galfalvy from Budapest led with 18 bout wins over two days, while fellow freshman Salma Abdrabou from Mohandessin achieved a 16-8 record. Senior Vika Shevchenko from Troy concluded with a 9-15 mark.

In foil events, sophomore Ludovica Mancini from Rome ended with a notable 16-7 record. Freshman Timi Terjek contributed an 8-15 overall result, while graduate student Halah Keramane finished at 4-10 and freshman Noreen Bongado ended at 0-9.

For sabre results, senior Reagan Byars and sophomore Mehreen Siddiqui both recorded 3-19 results over their bouts.

Wayne State will next host the Danosi Open on February 10 inside Matthaei as preparation for hosting NCAA Midwest Regional events in March at Wayne State Fieldhouse.
