Wayne State women conclude day two at NCAA swimming championships

The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team completed the second day of finals at the 2024 NCAA Championships in Geneva, Ohio. Jordan Fox, hailing from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, delivered a strong performance by finishing sixth in the 1000 free event.

At the conclusion of the day's events, Nova Southeastern led the team standings with 155 points. Drury and Colorado Mesa were tied for second place with 124.5 points each. UIndy followed with 105 points, while Lynn secured fifth place with 55 points. Wayne State currently holds the 12th position among the 26 teams that have scored points, accumulating a total of 35 points.

In individual performances for Wayne State in the 1000 free event, Jordan Fox clocked a time of 10:01.00 during prelims to secure her sixth-place finish. Alli Vassilakos from Clarkston, Michigan finished in 20th place with a time of 10:13.09. Megan Sieloff from Grand Blanc, Michigan recorded a time of 10:14.25 to take the 24th spot after prelims, and Barbara Munoz from Yumbo, Colombia finished in 28th place with a time of 10:17.72.

The Wayne State team's efforts extended to relay events as well; they placed 20th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.00. The relay team comprised Elly Belmore from St. Clair Shores, Michigan; Hannah Gurecki from Macomb, Michigan; Evie Dice from Waterford, Michigan; and Sabine Branford from Plymouth, Michigan.

Thursday's preliminaries are set to commence at 10 a.m., as teams continue to compete for top honors at this prestigious collegiate championship.
