Wayne State wraps up prelims at NCAA swimming and diving championships

The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team wrapped up its final preliminary session at the 2024 NCAA Championships on Saturday, held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The championships are set to conclude with tonight's events.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Sabine Branford from Plymouth, Michigan, placed 37th with a time of 52.06 seconds but did not advance. Elly Belmore of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, also did not advance in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing 30th with a time of 2:04.51.

Megan Sieloff from Grand Blanc, Michigan secured third place in the preliminary round of the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:55.02. Her final placing will be determined after tonight's finals.

Competing in tonight’s events are Alli Vassilakos from Clarkston, Michigan; Barbara Munoz from Yumbo, Colombia; and Jordan Fox from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

In diving news, Mikaela Senkus from Macomb, Michigan advanced to the championship final in the 1-meter diving event after placing fifth with a score of 408.90.
