Wayne State competes at NCAA championships preliminaries

The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team participated in the preliminary events on Wednesday morning at the 2024 NCAA Championships held in Geneva, Ohio.

Jordan Fox from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, representing Mentone Grammar, secured the top time of 10:01.00 in the 1000-meter freestyle. Her final placement will be determined after the evening's timed final featuring Alli Vassilakos from Clarkston, Michigan.

In other events, Elly Belmore from St. Clair Shores, Michigan did not advance in the 200 IM, finishing 33rd with a time of 2:06.24. Sabine Branford from Plymouth, Michigan also did not advance in the 50-meter freestyle, placing 22nd with a time of 23.45.

The final placements for Jordan Fox and her teammates Megan Sieloff from Grand Blanc, Michigan and Barbara Munoz from Yumbo, Colombia will be announced after tonight's timed finals. Sieloff completed her race with a time of 10:14.25 to finish 16th while Munoz finished 20th with a time of 10:17.72.
