The student-athletes at Wayne State University have demonstrated notable academic success in the Winter 2024 semester. A record-breaking 71 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.00 term GPA, with more than 78% maintaining a GPA above 3.00. The overall term GPA for all student-athletes was recorded at 3.359, while their cumulative GPA reached 3.446.

Among the teams, women's cross country led with a term GPA of 3.74, followed closely by women's swimming/diving (3.71) and women's tennis (3.68). Other teams also performed well academically, including softball (3.65), women's track (3.60), volleyball (3.546), baseball (3.545), and women's basketball (3.544). In total, eleven out of seventeen teams achieved a term GPA of at least 3.4.

Erika Wallace, WSU Director of Athletics, expressed her satisfaction: "Warrior student-athletes continue to outperform themselves! We have another record-breaking semester with 71 student-athletes recording a perfect 4.0 term GPA and 80% having a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0."

Wallace credited the students' success to their understanding that "the vision is more than sport" and emphasized the importance of building on classroom achievements to develop leaders who thrive beyond their university years.

She acknowledged the efforts of the Student Support Services team and coaches: "This would not be possible without all of you." Wallace concluded by stating that collaboration is key to learning and excelling.
