The Wayne State University women's indoor track and field team wrapped up its regular season by competing in the SVSU Tune-Up in University Center, Michigan. This event served as their final preparation before the GLIAC Championships scheduled for February 24th and 25th at SVSU.

Coach Lofdahl expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "We did a lot of good things at the Tune-Up, and accomplished what we wanted to in terms of competing hard and preparing for the GLIAC Championships."

In field events, Makayla Stewart set personal records in weight throw. Nevaeh Branson and Gracie Klink performed well in high jump, while Idalia Shadhaya showed promising results in long jump as she prepares for next week's pentathlon.

On the track side, Mikaela Owen won the 60m dash with Iyana Coates achieving a personal record. Richelle Cotter also set a new personal record in the 60 hurdles. Rachel Overgaard ran a strong 200m dash setting another personal best, while Avery Wilson led her team in the 300-meter dash.

Distance runners also delivered solid performances. Mattie Drennan nearly secured victory in her best 5K run recently. Katherine Ray achieved a season-best time with a fast finish in the mile race, while Emily Esker narrowly missed her indoor personal record in the 800m run. Anna Gdowski excelled in a solo 600m race and Bri Vojinov came close to an NCAA provisional mark with her performance in the 3K.

Coach Lofdahl acknowledged that there is still work to be done before next weekend's GLIAC meet but remains optimistic about their prospects: "There is still a lot of work to do for our coaches and athletes to get prepared for the GLIAC meet next weekend. We're excited about the opportunities in front of us and we'll be ready to compete at the highest level."
