Wayne State women's golf finishes season at NCAA East Regional

The Wayne State University women's golf team concluded its 2023-24 season at the NCAA East Regional in Carmel, Indiana. The Warriors finished 13th out of 15 teams with a total score of 989 over three rounds. Beca Vestman from Madrid, Spain, led the team by tying for 11th place individually with a score of 231 (+15).

The top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championships are Findlay, Indianapolis (UIndy), Grand Valley State, Ashland, and Davenport. Additionally, Elaine Grant from Illinois-Springfield and Wilma Zanderau from Missouri-St. Louis qualified as individuals.

The individual performances for Wayne State included Clarita Laffitte from Montevideo, Uruguay, who tied for 58th with a score of 249 (+33). Sabel Imesch from Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan tied for 64th with a score of 252 (+36). Orianna Bylsma from Montague, Michigan placed 74th with a score of 257 (+41), and Logan Potts from Norton Shores, Michigan came in at 77th place with a score of 269 (+53).

The team standings were led by Findlay and Indianapolis both scoring +41. Grand Valley State followed closely behind at +56. Ashland and Davenport rounded out the top five teams that will move on to the championships.

Wayne State's next season is scheduled to begin in fall as they prepare for their upcoming campaign in the year 2024-25.
