Wayne State women's golf finishes third at Cavalier Classic

The Wayne State University women's golf team secured third place in the Cavalier Classic, held at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio. The competition concluded on Tuesday with seven teams participating. The Warriors completed the event with a score of 629 (+53), just seven strokes behind the leading team.

Maisarah Hezri from Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia, led Wayne State by tying for second place individually with a score of 148 (+4). Her performance included rounds of 76 and 72.

The next challenge for Wayne State is the GLIAC Championships at Stonehedge North in Augusta, Michigan. This postseason event will feature nine teams competing over two days. On Friday and Saturday, they will play 36 holes to determine the Stroke Play Champion and award Individual Medalist Honors. The top four teams will then advance to the Medal Match Play Championship semifinals on Saturday afternoon for a chance to compete in Sunday's finals.

In addition to Hezri's strong showing, Beca Vestman from Madrid finished fourth with a score of 152 (+8). Other notable performances included Clarita Laffitte from Montevideo finishing tied for 19th with a score of 164 (+20), Sabel Imesch from Grosse Pointe Farms placing 21st with a score of 165 (+21), Logan Potts from Norton Shores tying for 22nd as an individual competitor with a score of 166 (+22), and Orianna Bylsma from Montague finishing tied for 30th with a score of 171 (+27).

The team standings saw Walsh leading with a total score of 622 (+46), followed by Franklin Pierce at 627 (+51) and Wayne State at third. Ohio Dominican came in fourth place, while Northwood, Grace College, and Malone rounded out the field.
