Wayne State University redshirt junior Anais Ruyssen has been honored as the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American of the Year for Division II Women's Tennis. This recognition adds to her accolades, making her the third student-athlete from Wayne State to achieve this honor in the 72-year history of the CSC Academic All-America program. Previous honorees include Cedric Drenth in 2023 for men's tennis and Catherine Leix in 2012 for women's swimming.
Ruyssen, who is majoring in Management with a cumulative GPA of 3.78, has also been named a First Team Academic All-American. Her achievements on the court include leading Wayne State to significant victories such as reaching the NCAA Championship quarterfinals and winning both the GLIAC Tournament title and Regular-Season Championship.
During this season, she compiled a record of 20-9 in No. 1 singles and partnered with Marta Komar for a doubles record of 26-13. Their performance earned them top regional rankings and national recognition.
Over her three seasons at Wayne State, Ruyssen's records stand at 66-22 in singles and 70-31 in doubles, placing her among the top achievers in program history. Her academic honors include multiple recognitions from GLIAC and ITA, along with consistent appearances on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
