Wayne State women’s golf team ranks sixth after first round in Ohio

The Wayne State University women's golf team concluded the first round of Northern Kentucky's The Julie tournament in sixth place among 13 teams. The event, held at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio, saw the Warriors finish with a score of 311 (+23) on Monday, just one stroke shy of entering the top five.

Maisarah Hezri led Wayne State individually, tying for fourth place with a score of +3 (75). Other notable performances included Sabel Imesch at +5 (77), Clarita Laffitte at +7 (79), Beca Vestman at +8 (80), and Orianna Bylsma at +11 (83).

The team standings after day one placed IUPUI in first with a score of +15 (303), followed closely by Northern Kentucky at +16 (304) and Purdue Fort Wayne at +18 (306). Wayne State trails Glenville State by one stroke.

The second and final round is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The Warriors' tee times are set with Bylsma starting at 9:15 a.m., followed by Vestman, Laffitte, Imesch, and Hezri concluding the lineup.
