Wayne State's Tripp and Lutchka earn All-GLIAC honors

Two members of the Wayne State University women's basketball team have been recognized for their performances in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The league office announced earlier today that junior forward Shea Tripp and sophomore forward Gabi Lutchka earned All-GLIAC honors.

Shea Tripp, hailing from Jackson, Michigan, was selected for the All-GLIAC First Team. In conference play, she led with 41 steals and ranked fifth in offensive rebounds with 38. Tripp also placed sixth in assists with 58, defensive rebounds with 82, and total rebounds at 120. She was seventh in both rebounds per game at 6.7 and field goals made with 93. Her performance secured her eighth place in points scored at 241 and points per game averaging 13.4. Additionally, she ranked tenth in free throws made with 48 and eleventh in field goal percentage at .479 as well as points per 40 minutes averaging 19.1. Tripp was previously a Second Team All-GLIAC honoree last season and was named to the Preseason All-GLIAC Second Team for the 2023-24 season.

Gabi Lutchka joined Wayne State University in January of last year but did not score during that season. This year, she finished fourth in the GLIAC by making 30 three-pointers during conference games and ranked ninth both in total points scored at 236 and points per game averaging 13.1. Lutchka also achieved twelfth place rankings for defensive rebounds with 72 and field goal percentage at .478. Her three-point shooting percentage stood at .353 during conference play, ranking her twelfth among players; overall she had a .379 percentage which placed her fifth among all GLIAC players.

Wayne State University's season concluded on Wednesday evening after a narrow loss to Northern Michigan with a final score of 51-48 during the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals. The team completed its season holding a record of sixteen wins against twelve losses.
