The Wayne State University women's golf team is preparing for the NCAA East Regional, which marks a significant step in their postseason journey. Hosted by Indianapolis, the tournament will take place from May 6 to May 8 at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana.

All participants will compete through 54 holes. The top teams and individuals from various regions will advance to the NCAA Championships. Specifically, the top three teams from the central region, five from both the south and west regions, and five from the east region, along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team, will qualify for the finals. These finals are scheduled for May 21-25 at Orange County National Golf Center in Orlando, Florida.

During the finals, all 18 qualifying teams and eight individual players will complete another set of 54 holes of stroke play. An individual champion and runners-up will be declared based on cumulative scores and tiebreakers after these rounds. The top eight teams will enter a bracket competition based on their scores to determine final placements.

The Wayne State lineup includes Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain), Sabel Imesch (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.), Clarita Laffitte (Montevideo, Uruguay), Logan Potts (Norton Shores, Mich.), and Orianna Bylsma (Montague, Mich.). Notably, Vestman has been a consistent performer in previous regionals.

In this year's tournament field are several notable teams including Findlay (Great Midwest Athletic Conference) and UIndy (Great Lakes Valley Conference). Additionally competing as individuals are Lisa Marie Schumacher from Tiffin and Sydney Hugo from Walsh among others.

Wayne State's past performances in regional play include a fourth-place finish last year that advanced them to their first-ever NCAA Championships appearance.
