The Wayne State University men's tennis team, ranked 20th nationally, secured a 4-3 victory over Tiffin University in the NCAA Midwest Regional. The match took place at the FSU Racquet & Fitness Center on Monday evening. With this win, Wayne State advances to face Grand Valley State in the final round of the regional competition.

Wayne State, seeded third, previously defeated Tiffin earlier this season. The recent victory brings them closer to a spot in the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

The match was delayed due to rain and had to be moved indoors. In doubles play, Wayne State claimed a crucial point by winning two completed matches. The duo of Cedric Drenth and Daniel Grey achieved a 6-1 victory against Tiffin's top pair. Luke Laws and Dom Spicer also secured a win with a 6-4 score.

In singles competition, Wayne State won three out of six matches. Cedric Drenth contributed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Michael Gurtner. Dom Spicer furthered the lead with his win over Matthew Telford. Despite Tiffin leveling the score at 3-3 through victories by Cyrille Colomb and Martin Driesner, Wayne State's Luke Laws clinched the deciding match against Maxime Navrotchi.

Wayne State will now compete against Grand Valley State for a place in the NCAA Round of 16. They have previously defeated Grand Valley twice this season.
