The Wayne State University football team has announced its 2024 schedule, which includes six home games in an 11-game season. The Warriors, led by second-year head coach Tyrone Wheatley, will play two home games each month.
The season opens with a game against former GLIAC rival Tiffin on September 5 at Frost-Kalnow Stadium. Wayne State holds a historical advantage over Tiffin with seven wins out of eleven meetings. However, Tiffin has won the last two encounters.
On September 14, Wayne State will face another former GLIAC rival, Findlay, in Detroit. Findlay leads the series with twelve wins to Wayne State's eleven. The Warriors have won the last three matchups.
Indianapolis visits Detroit on September 21 for a 6 p.m. kickoff, marking the end of a two-year home-and-home agreement. Indianapolis leads the series with fourteen wins to ten and has won the last three games against Wayne State.
In week four on September 28, Wayne State travels to Kirksville, Missouri, to play Truman State. Truman holds a five-to-three lead in their all-time series and has won the last three meetings.
Wayne State begins its seven-game league schedule with an away game against Michigan Tech on October 5. The Warriors have a slight edge in this rivalry with twenty wins compared to Michigan Tech's thirteen.
On October 12, Wayne State hosts Ferris State for its conference home opener at 6 p.m. Ferris State leads the all-time series with thirty-three victories compared to Wayne State's twenty-two.
The following week on October 19 sees Wayne State traveling to Davenport for another conference matchup. The series is tied at three wins each; however, Wayne State has struggled at home against Davenport.
Homecoming and Hall of Fame festivities are scheduled for October 26 when Saginaw Valley State visits Detroit for a 1 p.m. kickoff. Saginaw Valley has dominated recent matchups between these teams.
Wayne State then plays Grand Valley State in Allendale on November 2 at 3 p.m., seeking its first win against them since November 2019.
The final two regular-season games are set at Tom Adams Field starting November 9 against Roosevelt University and concluding November 16 versus Northern Michigan. Roosevelt joined collegiate football following its merger with Robert Morris (Ill.) in March of 2020.
Season tickets for the upcoming campaign are currently available for purchase while single-game tickets go on sale starting April 13 during the spring game event.
