The Wayne State University men's cross country team participated in the Lewis Invitational, hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. The Warriors secured the 21st position among 36 competing programs.
The team's top performers included Tyler Buchanan from Fenton, Michigan, who finished first for Wayne State with a time of 24:50.01, placing him 54th overall. Sean Pettis from Fremont, Michigan followed at 25:17.01, securing the 106th spot. Brady Heron from Northville, Michigan crossed the finish line at 25:35.50 in 151st place. Carson Nicoletti and Ty Nagy completed the top five for Wayne State with times of 25:36.90 and 25:44.23 respectively.
Additional participants included Griffin Conway from Novi, Michigan finishing at 26:08.97 in 223rd place; Gabe Trevino from Saginaw, Michigan at 26:11.34 in 229th; and Tyler Brothers from Shelby Township, Michigan at 26:25.15 in 254th.
Five members of the team also competed in an eight-kilometer open race with Adam Hafeli finishing in 36th place at a time of 26:36.50.
Head Coach Grant Lofdahl commented on the team's performance stating, "We've talked with the guys about patience and getting a little better every meet, and we did that again today." He acknowledged areas for improvement as well as standout performances by individuals such as Tyler Buchanan and Sean Pettis.
The Warriors are set to compete next on October 18 at the SVSU Red October Meet held in University Center, Michigan.
