Wayne State University's volleyball team concluded their participation in the Midwest Regional Crossover with a narrow five-set defeat against Walsh University. The match, held at the Hammond Sportsplex, ended with Wayne State at 8-10 overall and Walsh at 12-8.

The contest saw Wayne State fall to 0-5 in five-set matches this season. The Warriors achieved a hitting percentage of .206, securing 53 kills but also committing 24 errors from 141 total attacks. In contrast, Walsh managed a .193 hitting percentage with 50 kills and an equal number of errors on 135 swings.

Walsh started strong with a .458 hitting percentage in the first set (13-2-24). Wayne State's best performance came in the fourth set with a .321 hitting percentage (14-5-28). Notably, Walsh's team tied for the most service aces by an opponent this fall alongside Ohio Dominican and Purdue Northwest.

Individually, Molly Miller led Wayne State with 17 kills, followed by Katie Smith with 12 and Kayla Giroux with 10. Kayla Dulgar recorded her sixth instance of reaching the 40-assist mark this season. Maya Wegand made ten digs, nearly matching her career high.

Giroux also contributed significantly in defense with eight blocks (six assisted, two solo), just one short of her personal record as a Warrior.

Wayne State will return to their home court after three weeks to host Michigan Tech on Friday for Alumni Night at Matthaei Center.
