Wayne State volleyball triumphs over Michigan Tech in GLIAC return

Playing at home for the first time in three weeks, Wayne State University's volleyball team secured a decisive victory against Michigan Tech on Friday night. The Warriors defeated their opponents in straight sets, marking a strong return to league play at the Matthaei Center.

"It was a great team win tonight," said head coach Tim Koth. "I'm very proud of our execution and effort. I'm looking forward to another great match tomorrow."

Wayne State dominated the match with a hitting percentage of .237, recording 46 kills and 18 errors from 118 total attacks. Michigan Tech managed a .132 hitting percentage with 31 kills and 17 errors on 106 swings. The Warriors' most efficient set was the second, achieving a .342 hitting percentage.

Molly Miller achieved her fifth double-double of the season, contributing significantly since joining Wayne State last year. Kayla Giroux delivered an impressive performance with a .517 hitting percentage, maintaining at least .500 in seven matches this fall. Ella Uganski also played effectively with a .417 output.

Kayla Dulgar facilitated the offense with 35 assists while Miller led service aces for Wayne State with two. Defensively, Giroux excelled with six blocks and Kendyl Andrews recorded a game-high of 13 digs.

Next up, Wayne State will face Northern Michigan on Homecoming Saturday at the Matthaei Center. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m., following Northern Michigan's defeat by No. 13 Grand Valley State.
