The Wayne State University men's basketball team faced a narrow defeat against Indianapolis, with the final score standing at 68-67. The game took place on Sunday at Nicoson Hall, where Wayne State led by one point, 64-63, with just over two minutes remaining. However, Indianapolis outscored Wayne State 5-3 in the closing moments to secure their victory.

In the first half, Wayne State started strong by scoring 14 of the game's first 16 points without any turnovers. Carmelo Harris contributed five points during this period. Despite this early lead, Indianapolis responded with a 15-4 run that brought them within one point of Wayne State's lead. Tucker Tornatta's performance helped Indianapolis take their first lead at 22-20.

Wayne State regained momentum with another strong run and entered halftime leading by five points, 37-32. In the second half, they extended their lead to 11 points before Indianapolis mounted a comeback. The teams exchanged leads multiple times in the final minutes of the game.

Rob Lee Jr.'s free throws gave Wayne State a brief lead at 64-63 before turnovers allowed Indianapolis to regain control. Tamario Adley had an opportunity to tie the game but missed a crucial layup under pressure.

Statistically, Wayne State turned over the ball 18 times compared to nine for Indianapolis. The Greyhounds capitalized on these mistakes by outscoring Wayne State in points off turnovers and also dominated paint scoring and bench contributions.

Carmelo Harris led all scorers with 19 points for Wayne State while Adley added 13 and Carlos Paull III scored ten. For Indianapolis, DaShawn Jackson scored 16 points while Brody Whitaker and Tucker Tornatta added fifteen and thirteen respectively.

Wayne State will play its home opener against Findlay on November 17th inside the Fieldhouse.
