Wayne State University's volleyball team concluded its regular season with a four-set victory over Roosevelt University on Friday night. The match, held at Roosevelt, saw Wayne State improve their overall record to 14-12 and 11-5 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), while Roosevelt's record fell to 4-22 overall and 2-13 in the GLIAC.
"This was a tough match tonight," stated head coach Tim Koth. "It was weird travel after the tough match last night. Not to mention it was RU's Senior Night and they played really well. Carly had a very strong serve, pass and defend match for us tonight that really helped keep us in it. Very proud of her."
The Warriors secured the win with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-14, and 25-16. Wayne State hit .203 for the match compared to Roosevelt's .074. Kayla Dulgar achieved her ninth double-double of the fall season with 30 assists and 16 digs, leading both categories in the match.
Defensively, Ella Uganski contributed seven total blocks, including six assisted ones. The team collectively made nine service aces during the game, tying their third-highest number in a single match this season.
Kayla Giroux led all players with 13 kills on a .286 hitting percentage. Uganski also performed well offensively with nine kills on a .533 hitting percentage.
Looking ahead, Wayne State is set to host Michigan Tech in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals next Wednesday at Matthaei at 7 p.m.
