Wayne State women's basketball defeats Tiffin University by 24-point margin

Wayne State University's women's basketball team secured a decisive 72-48 victory over Tiffin University at the WSU Fieldhouse. This win marked Wayne State's final game of November, with the team set to resume play on December 5th against Davenport.

In the first quarter, Wayne State established an early lead with junior Taylor Thompson winning the opening tip. Senior Shea Tripp scored twice, and junior Gabi Lutchka added a fast-break lay-up. The Warriors maintained their momentum, ending the quarter with a 20-8 advantage.

The second quarter saw Wayne State extend its lead to 14 points after senior Ally Shagena made two free throws. Despite Tiffin's Rachel Reichard narrowing the gap to nine points before halftime, Wayne State responded with an 8-1 run, leading 38-22 at intermission.

The third quarter began with a strong start from Wayne State as Thompson and Leister contributed significantly to extending their lead. The Warriors outscored Tiffin 16-12 in this period.

In the fourth quarter, Tiffin managed to reduce their deficit slightly but could not sustain their comeback efforts. Wayne State limited Tiffin to just two points in the closing minutes, securing their victory.

Wayne State shot 43 percent from the floor compared to Tiffin's 25 percent and held a significant rebounding edge. Tripp led her team with a game-high of 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Thompson also recorded a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

For Tiffin, Lyn Lindeman scored a team-best of 15 points and shared rebounding honors with Grace Craig.

Wayne State will next face Davenport on December 5th in their GLIAC opener after an eleven-day break.
