Following an 11-day break, the Wayne State University men's basketball team is set to resume its league play with two road games. The Warriors, holding a record of 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC, will face No. 17 Lake Superior State on Thursday and No. 5 Ferris State on Saturday.

Wayne State has won three consecutive games and will begin their remaining 18 regular-season contests against some of the toughest opponents in the league. Lake Superior State has been strong at home with a 4-0 record and has won eight of its last nine games. Their only losses were to Ferris State and Lake Erie. Ferris State boasts a winning streak of 12 games, having lost only to West Texas A&M in their season opener.

Historically, Wayne State leads the series against Lake Superior State by a margin of 48-37 but recently ended a four-game losing streak against them. Against Ferris State, Wayne State trails with a record of 41-57 and hasn't won in Big Rapids since the 2011 GLIAC Championship Game.

Lake Superior State's head coach Steve Hettinga leads his team with key players Tyson Edmondson, Kingsley Perkins, and Adam Harakow contributing significantly in scoring. Nationally, they rank high in offensive rebounds per game and assist-to-turnover ratio among other statistics.

Ferris State under head coach Andy Bronkema is performing well across various metrics including blocks per game and three-point field goal percentage defense. Key players include Ethan Erickson, Nathan Claerbaut, and Tyler Hamilton who are all averaging over ten points per game.

In their last game against Redeemer on December 21st, Wayne State secured a decisive victory scoring over 100 points for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Carmelo Harris stood out for his free throw accuracy ranking second in the GLIAC this season.

All remaining regular-season games will be broadcast live on WDTK - The Patriot (1400 AM / 101.5 FM) with Kevin Brechmacher calling the action alongside former Warriors/Tartars during home games.
