Tamario Adley achieved a milestone performance, scoring 39 points to lead Wayne State University men's basketball team to an 88-84 victory over Saginaw Valley State. The game took place on Thursday, and Adley's achievement marked him as the fifth player in program history to score 39 points in a single game.

In the first half, Wayne State initially led by scoring nine of the game's first eleven points. Adley contributed four of those points early on. Saginaw Valley State responded with a strong run to tie the game at various intervals before taking their largest lead of four points at 28-24.

The teams exchanged leads multiple times before halftime, with Rob Lee Jr.'s three-pointer putting Wayne State ahead just before the break.

Wayne State extended its advantage significantly in the second half, leading by as many as 16 points. However, Saginaw Valley State mounted a comeback, reducing their deficit to just two points near the end of regulation time.

Ray Williams Jr. managed one free throw to widen Wayne's lead slightly before Freddie McIntosh scored for Saginaw Valley State. In response, Adley secured victory for his team with two successful free throws in the closing moments.

Statistically, Saginaw Valley State outperformed Wayne from field goals and rebounds but fell short in fast-break scoring and points off turnovers where Wayne excelled.

Adley's impressive contribution included five assists and four steals alongside his career-high point total. Teammates Rob Lee Jr. and Kelvin Tamakloe also reached double figures in scoring. On defense, Williams Jr. and Carlos Paul III each blocked a shot attempt.

For Saginaw Valley State, McIntosh led with 25 points while Toodles Seal added 15 and Nate Washburn scored 13.

Wayne State will next face new GLIAC member Roosevelt on Monday night at home for their inaugural meeting.
