Wayne State University's men's and women's fencing teams are set to compete at the DeCicco Duals this weekend. The event, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, will take place at the Castellan Family Fencing Center in South Bend, Indiana.
This marks the first team competition for Wayne State in 2025, following several individual events and open competitions earlier in the year. The event will feature top programs from across the country as ranked by the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA). Notably, host Notre Dame is ranked No. 1 on the men's side and No. 2 on the women's side.
The men's team from Wayne State is currently ranked 13th nationally, while their female counterparts hold a ranking of 35th. The men will face two other ranked teams: Detroit Mercy (34th) and Lawrence (23rd). Meanwhile, the women's team will compete against five additional ranked opponents: Northwestern (10th), Denison (19th), Cleveland State (33rd), Lawrence (41st), and Detroit Mercy (42nd).
The full schedule for Saturday includes eight rounds of matches starting at 9:00 AM with Wayne State facing Florida in Round 1. Throughout the day, they will also go up against Detroit Mercy, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Denison, Lawrence, Georgia Tech, among others.
