The Wayne State University men's cross country team has announced the addition of three new athletes for the 2025-26 academic year. Head coach Grant Lofdahl, in his eighth year with the team, welcomed Jamey Latstetter from Flushing High School, Ayden McDonald from White Lake Lakeland High School, and Malcolm Speigle from Livonia Churchill High School.

Jamey Latstetter is a graduate of Flushing High School where he was a four-year letterwinner in cross country. He earned All-State honors as a senior with a personal-best time of 15:39.9 at the state meet. Coach Lofdahl remarked, "Jamey is a guy who was on our radar as a top recruit since his junior year... He is very solid on the track, but cross country is where we feel his greatest strength lies."

Ayden McDonald will join Wayne State from White Lake Lakeland High School. A three-year varsity letterwinner under coach Joe Verellen, McDonald set a personal-best time of 16:08.1 at the 2024 MITCA Meet of Champions. Coach Lofdahl commented on McDonald's potential, stating that he "made amazing improvements during his high school career" and expressed confidence in further performance gains at the collegiate level.

Malcolm Speigle comes from Livonia Churchill High School where he was part of the cross country team that competed at the MHSAA Division 1 state final meet in 2022. He achieved a personal-best time of 15:58.8 at the 2024 Jackson Invitational. According to Coach Lofdahl, "Malcolm was a key part of the tremendous Churchill boys cross country team... He can develop into a very good collegiate 8K-10K runner."

Each athlete brings unique strengths to Wayne State's program as they prepare for their upcoming season.
