The Wayne State University women's basketball team secured a victory against Roosevelt with a score of 75-66, overcoming a 10-point deficit in the process. This game marked the Warriors' third comeback win this season, following similar performances against Edinboro and Saginaw Valley State.

The match began with Taylor Thompson scoring for Wayne State. However, Roosevelt quickly took control with baskets from Luka Malinka and Marie Outlay. The Lakers maintained their lead throughout much of the first quarter until Gabi Lutchka's buzzer-beater brought Wayne State within two points at 19-17.

In the second quarter, Roosevelt expanded their lead to nine points before Wayne State responded. A key moment was Lutchka's contribution, scoring seven straight points to give her team a narrow lead by halftime.

The third quarter saw both teams exchanging baskets, but Wayne State managed to pull ahead with six consecutive points. By the end of this period, they led 57-52.

Roosevelt tried to close the gap in the final quarter with efforts from Lexie Sinclair and others. Despite their attempts, Wayne State extended their lead further through crucial plays by McKenna Ferguson and Lutchka. A decisive 10-2 run ensured Wayne State's victory.

Statistically, Roosevelt outperformed Wayne State in shooting percentages but fell short in free throws and rebounds. The Lakers converted 43.3 percent of their shots compared to Wayne State's 37.7 percent but were less successful at the foul line.

Gabi Lutchka led Wayne State with career-highs of 30 points and 13 rebounds while playing every minute of the game. McKenna Ferguson contributed significantly with ten points and seven assists, and Alyssa Leister added another 13 points.

For Roosevelt, Luka Malinka was the top scorer with 19 points, including five three-pointers. Marie Outlay collected nine rebounds and eight points for her team.

Wayne State will next face Purdue Northwest on January 30 at John Friend Court as they continue their conference play.
