The Wayne State University Women's Track and Field team is set to participate in the Fifth Annual W-C-W Triangular meet at the Saginaw Valley State University Fieldhouse this Saturday. The event will see the Warriors compete alongside the host Cardinals and Northern Michigan. Each of these teams has claimed victory once over the past three years, with SVSU winning in 2022, WSU in 2023, and Northern Michigan in 2024. In 2021, no team scores were recorded.

Wayne State's lineup for the competition includes athletes across various track and field events. In the 60m dash, competitors include Emmanuela Johnson from Clinton Township, Elyse Miller from Woodhaven, Sasha-Gay Thompson from Jamaica, and Lauren Wooten from Grand Blanc.

For the 200m race, Johnson will be joined by Thompson, Makenzie Wellner from Menominee, and Wooten. Hanne Bastiaansen from Belgium leads in the 300m dash alongside Rachel Overgaard from Ypsilanti and Avery Wilson from Davison.

In the 400m dash category are Tianna Bennett from Howell, Iyana Coates from East Lansing, Emily Gordon from Northville, and Renae Kutcha from Jackson. The lineup for the 800m run includes Robin Bresolin from Ontario, Jessica Denver from Imlay City, Rachel Felstow from Leonard, and Anna Gdowski from Northville.

The mile run features Mattie Drennan of Clarkston, Annalise Elliott of Sparta, Reagan Justice of Canton who also holds records in both mile (4:57.54) and 3,000m (9:50.57), along with Meagan Verellen of Shelby Township.

In longer distance events like the 3,000m are Taylor Hopkins of Sanford competing with Justice again alongside Layla Martini of Casnovia and Emilee Rudlaff of Kalamazoo. For the demanding 5,000m event are Natalie Davies of Chelsea leading Sarah Greb of Washington and Aubrey Migoski of Wyandotte.

The team will also feature strong relay squads in both traditional formats such as a notable line-up including Bastiaansen in their well-prepared 4x300m relay teams aiming to match or exceed their school record time.

In field events such as hurdles (led by Alex Harmer), high jump (Olivia Findlay), long jump (Annabelle Smith), triple jump (Findlay again featuring here), shot put (Makayla Stewart) as well as weight throw where Stewart partners with Ania Toboy—all promising to deliver commendable performances.
