The Wayne State University women's tennis team, ranked 14th nationally, is set to commence its spring season with a match against the University of Indianapolis. The game will take place in Indianapolis on Saturday, February 8.

The University of Indianapolis Greyhounds currently hold a 1-1 record. They secured a win against Tiffin University but were defeated by Ferris State University. Before facing Wayne State, they will compete against Thomas More University on February 7.

In the previous season, Wayne State and UIndy met twice. The Warriors were defeated 4-2 in Indianapolis but later achieved a victory at home in Detroit with a score of 4-1. This win was notable as it marked their first triumph over the Greyhounds since the 2011-12 season and was also the first under head coach Yahsha Moore. During that earlier victory, Moore played a significant role as a freshman by winning an important singles match.

Anais Ruyssen contributed significantly to last year's victory by winning both her singles and doubles matches while playing in the No. 1 position. Additionally, Malak Arafat and Martyna Szpakowska were successful in their No. 2 doubles match.

The Greyhounds are coached by Malik Tabet, who is in his 13th year leading the team. Under his guidance, they have won seven Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Championships and participated in multiple NCAA Tournaments.
