The Wayne State University Men's tennis team, currently ranked 17th, is preparing for an away match against the University of Indianapolis on Saturday, February 8. The first match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.

The University of Indianapolis started their spring season as the No. 11-ranked team in the nation and holds a 2-0 record before their upcoming game against Thomas More University on February 7. The Greyhounds have secured victories over Tiffin University and Ferris State University so far this season.

Last season, Wayne State and UIndy faced each other three times, with Wayne State winning one out of the three encounters. In their most recent meeting, Wayne State emerged victorious with a score of 4-1. Cedric Drenth from Sulzbach, Germany played a key role in that victory by delivering an impressive singles performance in the No.3 position. This win marked Wayne State's first triumph over UIndy since the 2011-12 season after losing six consecutive matches to them.

Malik Tabet is leading UIndy into his 13th season as head coach. Under his leadership, the team has won six Great Lakes Valley Tournament Championships (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2023, and 2024) and made several appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
