Wayne State University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been honored with Scholar All-America recognition for the Fall term. The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) awarded this distinction based on academic performance.
The women's team achieved a GPA of 3.77, marking it as the fourth-highest among female teams with at least 21 student-athletes. Meanwhile, the men's team maintained a GPA of 3.42.
In total, 781 teams from 459 institutions were selected for the CSCAA's Scholar All-America Team for Fall 2024. These teams included 19,209 student-athletes and were chosen based on their team GPAs for that semester.
To qualify, teams needed to achieve a GPA above 3.0 during Fall 2024. Of those selected, 654 teams had GPAs of 3.30 or higher, making them eligible for the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport Academic Standings.
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, praised the teams' achievements: "The commitment to academic excellence demonstrated by these teams is truly admirable. It is inspiring to see student-athletes excel both in the pool and in the classroom."
The CSCAA congratulated all recognized teams and student-athletes for their academic success during Fall 2024, highlighting their dedication to both sports and academics.
