Several athletes from Wayne State University's women's indoor track and field team participated in the GVSU Big Meet Friday, achieving notable results including setting three new school records.
Senior Emily Gordon improved her own record in the 800m with a time of 2:09.54. Her classmate, Reagan Justice, also set a new mark in the 5K at 16:42.20. The 4x400m relay team, consisting of Elyse Miller, Avery Wilson, Makenzie Wellner, and Renae Kutcha, surpassed their previous record by just .08 seconds. All these performances met NCAA Provisional standards.
In individual events, several athletes competed as follows:
- In the 60m dash, Elyse Miller finished 18th with a time of 7.78.
- Hanne Bastiaansen placed 14th in the 200m event with a time of 24.97.
- Avery Wilson completed the 400m race in 57.96 to finish in the top twenty-two.
- Robin Bresolin ran the mile event in 5:09.50.
- Mattie Drennan and Aubrey Migoski competed alongside Justice in the 5K.
The high jump saw Olivia Findlay tie for eighth place with a jump of 1.58 meters.
Looking ahead, Wayne State's women will continue their participation at GVSU on Saturday before heading to University Center for the SVSU Tune-Up on February 21st.
