Wayne State swimmers advance to finals at GLIAC Championships

The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team participated in the third preliminary session of the 2025 GLIAC Championships at the Holland Aquatic Center in Holland, Michigan. After competing in four events, nine team members secured spots in Friday night's finals scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

In the 500-yard freestyle event, William Debroux led with a time of 4:24.68, followed by Khalil Ben Ajmia with 4:29.60, and Harrison Arnold clocking in at 4:32.10. All three swimmers achieved NCAA B Cut times and advanced to the championship final.

For the 100-yard backstroke, Olin Charnstrom finished second with a time of 48.19, Gabriel Arias came fourth at 48.48, and Lorenzo Tassinari placed seventh with a time of 48.87. Charnstrom and Arias also met NCAA B Cut standards.

In the 100-yard breaststroke event, Clayton Kinnard secured second place with a time of 53.67, meeting the NCAA B Cut requirement.

Trevor Jones advanced to the championship final for the 200-yard butterfly event with a seventh-place finish at a time of 1:50.23. Matt Hernandez will compete in the consolation final after finishing eleventh with a time of 1:51.14.

Wayne State University's swimming team looks forward to showcasing their skills during Friday night's finals as they aim for top positions.
