Six members of Wayne State University's men's swimming and diving team participated in the final day of the 2025 NCAA Championships in Indianapolis on Saturday. The preliminary rounds concluded with mixed results for the team.
In the 200 backstroke, Gabriel Arias advanced to the consolation final with a time of 1:44.49, securing 10th place. However, Olin Charnstrom did not advance after finishing 24th with a time of 1:48.40.
Trevor Jones competed in the 1650 freestyle and secured an 11th place finish with a time of 15:39.30. William Debroux is set to swim in tonight's timed final as the eighth seed, having previously clocked a time of 15:19.19.
In diving events, Julio Osuna led by advancing to the championship final on the one-meter dive with an impressive score of 588.70, while Max Wasiniak also made it through to compete further after placing seventh with a score of 455.05. John Martin will participate in the consolation final after scoring 415.40 and placing 15th.
The finals are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., where Wayne State University aims to improve its standing from their current position at twelfth among thirty-five teams and strive for a top ten finish by night’s end.
