Wayne State University's women's track and field team concluded a busy weekend with competitions in both the Texas State Bobcat Invitational and the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Open. Nine team members traveled to Texas, while another 20 participated in Ohio, showcasing their talents across various events.
Sophomore Nicole Warren made a notable impression at Cedarville, winning the triple jump and achieving second place in the long jump. This result highlighted a successful weekend for her and the team overall.
In Texas, Hanne Bastiaansen, junior from Tessenderlo, Belgium, placed 45th in the 100m Dash, clocking 12.25. Avery Wilson, a junior from Davison, Michigan, placed 38th in the 400m Dash, which ranks third in school history with a time of 56.89 seconds. The 4x100m relay team secured 13th place with a time of 47.16 seconds, marking the sixth fastest in school history.
In Ohio, alongside Warren's victories, the 4x100m relay team placed 5th with a time of 47.67 seconds. Additionally, Taylor Hopkins achieved second in the women's 5,000m with a time of 17:36.65, and Aubrey Migoski followed closely for third place.
The team looks forward to continuing their spring schedule with the upcoming Oakland Golden Grizzlies Invitational.
